MISSION

  • To pursue and support basic and pre-clinical research on laboratory animals in the areas of developmental biology, reproductive biology, neurobiology, behavioural sciences, cardiology, stem cell, molecular cell biology, immunology and virology.
  • To create/breed/maintain Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) quality animals for research.
  • To provide comprehensive bibliographic information on animal experimentation and resources.
  • To provide access to the resources through collaboration with the academic institutes/R&D institutes/industries.
  • To support the academic and research institutions, universities, biotech, biopharma, and biomedical research organizations for developing medical devices, diagnostics, new therapeutics for human and animal health with its state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities.
  • To function as testing and authorizing institute on behalf of the Government of India for drugs/vaccines and medical devices.

MANDATE
